Re: Main board fried?

Found this on a Reddit page: I've had this same issue. I did some trouble shooting from changing thermistor to making sure all cables are not damaged and plugged in. To even changing the entire hotend with another printers head. I spent hours trying to figure this problem out. I got in contact with ...

Re: More money, more reliability?

I'm not an engineer, but from engineering point it makes me puzzled why the printers use different metals for the components which handle most of the heat? I mean, the nozzle is often brass, but heat block is aluminium and then the heat break who knows what. I suppose smarter people than me have th...

Re: More money, more reliability?

During the COVID crisis businesses of different sizes were eligible for different aids here, but later turned out many of them were issued under false premises and the businesses had to pay lots of those aids back. I never applied for one, and all that hassle afterwards made me a bit sceptical abou...

Re: More money, more reliability?

Another point: lifetime of the motors (and possibly other components as well) is extended if operated significantly below their maximum performance. Just because a printer can run at 300mm/s (or whatever), doesn't make it necessarily a good idea.

Re: More money, more reliability?

An interesting question. I'm an engineer, so I think we can make progress by discussing the relevant points. As I see it: Key Components Controller Stepper motors (X, Y, Z, extruder) Nozzle heater Hot-end fan Build platform heater Build volume heater/fan Electrical interconnect PSU Mechanical parts ...

Re: Workshop woes!

Thanks for posting! I can't offer much by way of practical experience (I do my printing inside the house) but general observations. Yes, a stable environment is critical. Garages generally have two means of access (ie a door separate from the vehicle entry), not least for safety. If you're using it ...

A spell checker isn't going to distinguish between seem and seam.

I guess I got close to the truth and hit a nerve, resulting in a childish tantrum. No loss.

Re: Tina2S Newbie

For one thing, if you're going to spend time on forums or in any other public conversation, you need to develop a sense for when remarks are light-hearted and when they're not, and even when they're not you'll need a thicker skin. For another: if you're going to think out loud and commit so much to ...
