Yes, many plastics are suitable for something like a phone case. I think it depends on user preference. However, PLA is probably always going to be popular due to its ease of use

We have not experienced scanners greatly.
Generally very expensive and sometimes not very accurate.

Thats very nice.
Yes I finish all my prints with Brasso which is a metal polish. The effect on PLA and ABS is to make it very smooth but with the metal filaments it also brings out the metal.
