Try a new card and putting a the file for the build you want to make on it but before you print it if the has an auto hung option press that to home the printer and then print the file

Nice if you want to get rid of stringing gently use a heat gun to melt thin strands

would that interfere with the reading of the sensor?
Should think so because its the thing heating do if that's not right the thermo coupler reading could be off I guess
But if you have got it working I would just cary on using it as is until it dose it again but hopefully it wont

Have you tested the heating element or extruder to see if they are working properly

It could be that if you are printing on glass that the glass is not clean I don't know if it works but I have hear hair spray on the bed can help it stick also is the bed heated and if it is, is it at the right temperature

New to it all to I'm going to use sd cards as I don't want to have Moore cables going to my pc and it is pretty much the only way I can have the printer in a different room to my pc

I'm new to this all and have just got my first 3d printer. It's a prusa i3 lookalike. It has a metal heated print bed I'm using painter's tape on.
