Re: Thicker layer offset

Looks like you might be over-extruding - you are squishing more filament than is necessary to fill a space, and this leaves blobs on the finishrf print. Print a cube 20mm x 20mm x 20mm at 100% infill. If the cube is bloated you are over-extruding. If it is looking like it needs action from biafra (i...

Re: Thicker layer offset

You might find that infill of 8% would be good for most prints. 15% and above is a bit too highand needed for parts which are subject to weight or stress.

Re: Thicker layer offset

Try bed temp of 70 degrees and nozzle 230 degrees - the latter is probably OTT for PLA so you will probably adjust it downwards after the trial. PLA at 230 might be too runny, you'll probably have stringing. Bed temp of 70 is okay for PLA, though 60 is probably likely. Your current temps are too low.

Re: Thicker layer offset

Sounds a bit odd. Layer shifting COULD be due to print temperature, where if the bottom layer sets cold before the next layer then layer 1+ could "drag" as it prints the higher layers. Might not work but try setting a higher bed temperature, which should reduce the cooling during printing....

Re: Newbie fan problem

Not sure of your printer type, however if it's like the Creality CR-10 then that front fan is vital, otherwise the heat block behind thru which filament flows overheats, and that can cause flow blockage. That fan works 100% of the time and doesn't need to be switched on/off. If it isn't spinning the...

Re: Slow heating bed

If yours is a Creality CR10 then bed heating is inadequate - this is due to the heating depending on a 12v power supply which unfortunately cannot provide enough power. Upsizing the power supply won't fix that. Changing to a Keenovo can solve this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/KEENOVO-Silicon-Heater-310...

You may find that YouTube is your friend. There are many videos on there for just about everything so it's worth a look.

Go to youtube.com, and search for your printer type.

Re: sticking prints

If you use ABS then you don't need any help with sticking. 1) Clean the glass bed with alcohol - the bed MUST BE grease free. 2) Heat the bed to 110 degrees. Tnhis temperature can be impossible with some printers (Creality CR-10 can't get over 90 degrees, or very time consuming. Using a mains powere...

Re: Print won't stick to bed

Thank you for help offered, question what is lexon, and where dose one get it Lexan is a thermoplastic, similar to but VERY different to perspex. Don't try perspex - it won't work and you could end up with a horrendous mess as it will melt and molten plastic isn't a good idea. The link was given in...
