Cheap metal 3D Printing

Post by appleguy »

Hi guys, I'm 3D Printing off a 1/6th Robocop 2 figure, I would like some of it to be done in metal,
can anyone recommend a reliable cheap place in the uk to do this?
Also I'm a total noob at 3D printing in general is it expensive to do printing in aluminium?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to 3D print in actual metal you will need a laser sintering 3D printer. That will be expensive. The alternative is to use a metal impregnated pla, in this instance SteelFill by Colorfabb would be your best option. It can be sanded and then polished to give you a good metal finish. It will also be a lot cheaper.

Do not consider metal 3D printing to be cheap. The technology is not so common and it is still in its initial stage. Though, you can easily get a metal 3D printer and printing filament online.
