Newbie problems

Post by dodgy70 »

Just built a Anet A8 Omni printer did a home all and levelled the bed and did a test temperature piece which came out ok til it fell over, have had success with a test circle now every time I reset the bed and do a print the printer raises the head half way up then comes down and starts printing about 3 inches above the bed is this a printer problem or the g-code

This sounds like a problem with the settings.

Firstly, when you start the print is the print at the height of the 3" above the bed? It is probably confused as to where the home is for the z axis.

either that or check that you have not entered a very unusual z-offset in your slicer.

Hi sorry for the late reply.
PLease take a look at : https://ultimaker.com/en/community/1709 ... et-in-cura for some guidance on altering z height in the g-code. it could be that some how you have a corrupted calibration.h file. you could try reloading this on to the board. We don't run Anet A8 so we cannot be sure how much versatility you have when it comes to your printers firmware.

This is probably a problem with the settings of your 3D printer. Look into the user manual of your 3D printer and it would offer you instructions on how to level the 3D printer bed effectively.
