Bad tpu prints

Hi all...
Bit of a newbie with the 3d printing and could do with a little insight.
Have bought myself a monoprice select mini v2. I have a roll of pla and a roll of tpu. Pla prints fine with standard pla settings in the cura slicer.
PLA however is not good. I've tried many many settings. Some that I've found online and some that I've changed around myself
Thing is I start the print and the ferst few layers come out great. So like 5mm or so up the print it goes to hell. Starts underextruding (I think) and quality totally goes out the window. Finished product looks dry and can be pulled apart easily.
Any nudge in the right direction is appreciated!
Thanks in advance...
Pete.
