What is the best material for strength

Post by GordsM8 »

I'm building a remote control car and i want to 3d print the suspension arms but i don't know which material to use. PLA can go soft in the summer sun / heat and ABS smells and requires a heated bed, otherwise it shrinks when cooling and warps.

Are there any alternative materials I could consider?

I don't have a 3d printer yet but it will (need to) be a low cost type.

Hi,
You can try carbon fibre filaments, not strictly "Fibre" but pla impregnated with carbon fibre powder. Take a look at ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fibre filament. The other strong filament material is Nylon. This does require a heated bed and is also very prone to warping.

Most of the carbon fiber filaments are highly effective if you wish to build strength-intensive 3D printed objects. Besides, ABS and PETG etc. are also great products for the 3D printing jobs.
