First time with a 3D Printer

Post by orionform »

Hello, I bought an Elegoo Mars 5 ultra and I am trying to print a 3D model of mine with a water washable resin. This is my first time with a 3D printer. I tried to print my own model 3 times, but I always had to stop the process because the printing is always failing.
I installed the chitubox with the settings from the pendrive that came with the printer. However, when I printed the first time the model, I didn’t add the supports. The pedestal wasn't coming off from the plate.
With the second attempt, I used the auto support option, but the character fell into the tray.
For the third attempt, I hollowed the mesh and separate it in two pieces, rotating the character 45 degrees and adding the supports again. But both the pieces were stuck in the tray, so the printing failed again. I didn’t bother to cure it this time.
I don’t understand why both pieces fell this time, even if they should be lighter from the previous printing.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Hopefully somebody with SLA experience can reply with some insight.
