What's your favourtie song? [printing a bluetooth speaker]

Post by humb »

Ok the question is slightly (sarcasm) misleading. But this is music related.

I've been making models for years, learning by myself and loving it. Now 3d printing has lodged itself under my belt for about 15 months and I confident in what I want to do next.

And that is to make my own portable bluetooth speaker. I have my design in mind for the shell and have got to the point where I can start working out what guts to put in it. I can then of course model whatever needs doing to contain these guts.

I've been toying with the idea of finding a broken one, that works but is physically broken. I have also toyed with the idea of buying a kit of some sort and bits and pieces to magically throw in a cardboard box and say tada and out pops a finished product. Sort of.

Electronics wise I am ok with a soldering iron but thats about it. I can wire up a sound system, house, car, dancehall. But at component level I am no good.

Admin - sorry about the title. I honestly didnt know where to put this thread on this forum. I am uk based so felt to post here and ask.

Any advice or pointers on what's maybe a good idea, I'd love to hear.

Criterea : I have a shell design in mind. It is a fixed design but I can of course make minor changes. I have some full range speakers for the main sound. I am contemplating something bassy to add but am not sure if or what is possible. Small but to add a bit of flavour. I also don't mind it not having a display (text) but I will be adding a sound acitivated light circle that I picked up for a few quid.

So it needs :

Aux in
Bluetooth
USB C power share
Amplifier 2 channel or more if bass addon is gonna happen. May consider two amps.

It doesn't have to blow tthe neighbours roof off of course but I want it to be a clean full sound. I am also doing this on a tight budget. But of course needs must. I will do what I can to make this happen.

You were inches away from being summarily deleted as spam, had I not gone on to read the content! Where to put it? Where I've moved it to!

[Was in "Hardware", which means 3D printing hardware! Note I shall shortly delete the redirect which is currently under that heading.]

This is not an electronics forum and not the place to discuss the electronics element of this project, nor should you expect to find the right expertise here.

From the POV of the 3D print element, you will need to consider the acoustic properties of your enclosure if you want this Bluetooth speaker to have any quality. The walls of a speaker cabinet need to be stiff and dense, to prevent sound leakage from the rear of the speaker driver.
